6am - Like we do everyday in the 6am, Stump Matt Pinfield.
7am - Part 2 of Matt's interview w/ Les Paul. Today they discussed the tweaking and redsigning of the early electric guitars as well as Multi Track Recording. Les, on his Mom's advice decided he wanted a sound like no one else and spent 2 years couped up coming up w/ the idea for multi-track recording which led to Delay, Rever, Sound on Sound recording and a host of other effects. Check it out.
8am - Time Out NY Music Editor, Steve Smith dropped by to help us break down what shows we may want to consider checking out.
BIG SHOWS: Nine Inch Nails plays its final area shows at Bowery Ballroom Sat 22, Webster Hall Sun 23, Terminal 5 Tue 25 & Wed 26. Not surprisingly, Trent Reznor has scared off most of the competition this week; the pickings are actually kind of slim. But an inspired pairing of Heaven and Hell -- a.k.a. the Ronnie James Dio-fronted version of Black Sabbath -- shares a bill with that most versatile of bands, Coheed & Cambria, at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden on Tue 25.
OFFBEAT: Cake Shop hosts an "All-Star Salute to John Hughes" on Sat 22. Sure, "all-star" is probably relative... but what could be better than hearing a bunch of local bands blasting out the soundtrack of your adolescence via tunes made famous in Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Ferris Bueller's Day Off?
NEWLY ANNOUNCED: Moby has added another local date to his current tour, Sept 23 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Artful singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens is getting ready to release a new album, The BQE, and celebrates with two shows at the Music Hall of Williamsburg Oct 6 & 7. The Bravery comes to Terminal 5 on Oct 8, and Van Morrison swings back into town for a show at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden Oct 25.
9am - Rob Zombie called in to talk about his new movie, Halloween II. Matt also recalled the time he went out with Alyssa Milano and met up with Rob and his wife to see Powerman 5000. Rob remembered the night, he forgot one little detail though - he has no recollection of Alyssa Milano being there.
Joey Degraw stopped by to play live in studio for local licks. Joey also own the East Village club, The National Underground and has his own record label under the same name. Check this interview and performance out - Joey was a lot of fun on the air and sounded great.
