I'm no Jesus, but I'm a savior
Posted 2/8/2010 10:06:00 AM
With my return from a week-long escape, the weight of blog-writing duties has been lifted off the shoulders of The Rock Show staff, and the relief is clearly seen on their faces. I get it - in their minds, writing is an activity that requires thinking and an energy-draining use of brain power. I, however, have figured out how to write mindlessly. With their being no content of substance to start with, the product doesn't suffer much at all.
6am - Conflict plagued the first hour of the show. I couldn't get all the details out of a hysterical Barrie the non-intern, but from what I gathered, Matt incorrectly answered the day's "Stump Matt Pinfield" question, which was "Who was drumming for The Who last night during the Superbowl Halftime Show, who gave the guy in question his first drum set, and what band was he formerly in?"
The answers, by the way, are ...
It's Friday, I miss Greg

2-2-10 The day Greg left
Posted 2/2/2010 10:26:00 AM
6am - I miss Greg. Matt was not in the mood to be stumped, so we played Ozzy audio to see if you could understand a word he is saying. Somebody finally won after 10 misses.
7am - Greg is still not here. Our Cheap Trick interview started today and we spoke about there new album, "The Latest," why they put the album out on 8-track and how Conan and Stephen Colbert both got 8-tracks in there cars.
8am - Is that Greg? No just a intern that smells like Greg. We ran our Grammy interview with Melissa Etheridge. She speaks about her new album and doing Bruce's "Born To Run" at the Kennedy Center. We had Time Out NY music editor Steve Smith come by and tell us what is going on for the next week. Here it is:
Thursday and Friday: Josh Rouse and Christina Courtin ...

Hey guys, that's classic (part 4) - Grasping to hold onto the Grammy Magic
Posted 2/1/2010 10:06:00 AM
6am - We're back from the Grammys. Boy, am I beat. I like living in New York much more than Los Angeles, but I still miss it out there sometimes. Remember when I hosted that show "Farm Club?" No? That's okay. I really don't either. Anyway, the point is that I used to live in LA when I was working on that show. I also had to take extra precautions to protect my head from the sun. Not having any hair can sometimes be a dangerous thing.
Leslie and I ran down the list of Grammy winners. In this futuristic age, filled with computers and iPods and microwaves, it shouldn't be hard for you to find that list if you're so compelled. I don't want to waste precious blog space here with a long, droning tabulation.
7am - Just in time for Valentine's Day, we're announcing the next ...
Hey guys, that's classic (part 3) - Broken Bells, Jon Heder, and an empty jar of tomato sauce

It was such a busy show today. I'm out of breath just thinking about it. Then again, I'm always out of breath. I have an over-active diaphragm. It's nothing serious, but has proven to be a nuisance throughout my life.
My trainer is waiting for me. I try to work out every day now. Being healthy is being right. That's a slogan I'm going to try to sell to the Ad Council. Anyway, here's a quick rundown of today's show. I love you all.
6am - Fredrico, the station janitor, was brought into the studio. I had to confront his recent slacking of taking out the trash. For the past two days, an empty jar of Marky Ramone's Pasta Sauce (that I drank straight from the container) has been sitting on the counter next to the control board. Station engineer, Steve Pepe, isn't too thrilled when we consume ...

6am - I've always contested that Matt Pinfield is the Raymond "Rain Man" Babbitt of musical knowledge. Matt may not know how much a candy bar costs, but he has to watch The Biggest Loser every Tuesday night, else he'll throw a massive fit, and he can tell you how many people were in attendance at Whitesnake's double bill concert with Motley Crue at Madison Square Garden on August 20th, 1987 simply by glancing at a photo taken of the crowd from the stage. Don't ask him what he thinks of the impact the Hubble Telecsope had in resolving some long-standing problems in astronomy, but question him on what kind of guitar pedal Jade Warrior guitarist Tony Duhig preferred to use, and he'll have an answer for you.
Today's "Stump Matt Pinfield" question was:
What was the inspiration for the Psychedelic Furs song "The Ghost In You?"
Answer:
The girlfriend ...
