Monday's Show Rundown

Jules from The Ting Tings checked in with us from Europe.  The Ting Tings are playing Matt Pinfield's Holiday Extravaganza #1 on December 9th. 
 
Like we do every Monday, Duke Castiglione called in to give us the rundown on NYC sports.  The Good news - both Gians & Jets are in 1st place. 
 
Jesse from Eagles of Death Metal dropped by the studio to hang out on the show for a bit.  Jesse told a great story about the EoDM touring with Guns N Roses.  Apparently Axl decided he didn't love the guys 1 day or as Jesse would put it, "Axl went Waxl and should have taken his Paxil."  In any case, Axl referred to the Eagles as "Pigeons of Shit Metal."  The band decided to make T-shirts that said this and it turns out they sold better than the regular band shirts.

Friday's Show Rundown

Matt actually overslept, so Leslie & I held down the fort for the first Hour and a half show.  One thing that is true, you never totally get use to working early hours and you always have to set an alarm clock.
 
8am - Ryan Schreiber, Founder of Pitchfork Media came by to talk about his website, which by the way is a great site to learn about music, check out record reviews, etc, and his new book:  The Pitchfork 500: The 500 Best Songs from Punk to Present. 
 
9am - Ashlea Halpern, Senior Editor at Time Out NY and Editor of the "Own this City" section came by to tell us some cool happenings in the city this weekend.  Couple things:
1.  James Bond: Quantum of Solace is out
2.  Lebowski Fest
3. The Intrepid is back

6am - Chris Squire from Yes called in to update us on the upcoming shows here in NYC.  Chris gave us the rundown on how they went about getting a new singer using Youtube.
 
8am - Butch Walker popped into the show to hang out for a bit.  Butch is a friend of the show and is always fun to have on.  He played a song live in studio and RXP DJ Steve Craig joined us to tell the story of how he helped Butch come up with one of his old band names, The Marvelous 3.  Check out the Podcast to hear in its entirety.
 
9am - Mikel from The Airbourne Toxic Event called in from Europe. Airbourne is playing the Matt Pinfield Holiday Extravaganza.

Smashing Pumpkins on the show

Last Thursday Billy Corgan & Jimmy Chamberlain from the Smashing Pumpkins came by the show and wound up hanging out with us for over 2 hours . . .the entire interview is on our podcast section. 
 
During that interview Matt & Billy discussed a murder that happened at the Jersey shore a few years back.  At the time, the murderer said he listened to the Smashing Pumpkins and the media in a way placed some blame on the band.  Billy talks about this during the interview and tells of how he wrote a song about it . . .song has never been released but their are bootlegs out there.
